Produktbeschreibung
In its breadth, collection of actors, and scope of issues, this range of actors brings a fresh perspective on the politics of policymaking and is poised to become a vital resource for students of Social Policy and Gender and Development Studies.
–Michelle V. Rowley, Ph.D., Associate Professor, University of Maryland, Maryland USA
As reflections on the process of decolonization deepen, this edited collection bearing contributions from a variety of stakeholders including public policy practitioners, civil society actors, academics, grassroots activists, social workers, is another welcome addition about Caribbean policy making by its people. The book is novel for its inclusion of these different stakeholder voices and sectors ‘under one roof’, and is refreshing for its use of an interdisciplinary approach.
–Heather Ricketts Ph.D., Dean Faculty of Social Sciences, The University of the West Indies, Kingston, Jamaica
This edited collection brings together the work of practitioners, civil society actors, and academics, either located in the Caribbean, or involved in Caribbean-based work on public policy making and its implementation. The compendium challenges traditional dichotomies of external versus internal actors in the policy process, thereby, framing Caribbean public policy as a complex multi stakeholder undertaking. The collection is informed by three broad thematic areas: Gender and Policymaking, Human Security and Social Policy. Sub-themes include Gun Violence and CARICOM Small Island Developing States and the People Face/ Social Cost of Climate Change. This volume is ideal for researchers, policy-makers, academics, and graduate students.
