Produktbeschreibung

Canada Among Nations has been published by faculty from Carleton University’s Norman Paterson School of International Affairs for several decades. This year’s edition focuses on national security in the 21st Century. Bringing together emerging and senior scholars, and serving and recently retired practitioners, the volume examines great power competition, the Indo-Pacific, Canada’s alliances, the Canada-United States relationship, national defence, and intelligence. The book further explores broader national security concerns, including Arctic security, natural disasters and emergencies, pandemics and public health, right-wing violent extremism, hostile activities of state actors, cyber security, migration, and organized crime. Norman Hillmer is Chancellor’s Professor of History and International Affairs at Carleton University. He has written, co-authored, and edited thirty-one books, five of them in the Canada Among Nations series. Dr. Hillmer is a member of the Order of Canada and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada. Philippe Lagassé is Associate Professor and Barton Chair at the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs, Carleton University. His research focuses on defence policy and procurement, executive-legislative relations, and the Westminster system. He served as an independent reviewer of major defence procurements for the Canadian government between 2012-2022. Vincent Rigby is the Slater Family Professor of Practice at McGill University’s Max Bell School of Public Policy. He recently retired from Canada’s Public Service after 30 years in a variety of departments and agencies across government, including the Privy Council Office, Global Affairs Canada, Public Safety, the Department of National Defence and the former Canadian International Development Agency. His last position was as National Security and Intelligence Advisor to the Prime Minister from 2020 to 2021.
