Godly Play ist ein Konzept spiritueller Bildung. Es lädt Kinder, Jugendliche und Erwachsene dazu ein, Grundfragen ihres Lebens und Glaubens nachzugehen und eine Sprache fu¨r diese Auseinandersetzungen zu finden. Auf spielerische und kreative Weise verknu¨pft Godly Play Impulse aus der Montessori-Pädagogik mit biblischen Geschichten und christlichen Traditionen. Das Konzept wurde seit 1970 von Jerome Berryman (USA) entwickelt und wird seit ca. 2003 in Kirchgemeinden, Kindergärten, Schulen und anderen Bildungsorten im deutschsprachigen Raum eingesetzt und dabei stetig weiterentwickelt.
Der Praxisband „Glaubensgeschichten“ enthält 13 Darbietungen zum Kirchenjahr, zur Bibel als Buch sowie zu zentralen Stoffen aus dem Alten Testament wie z.B. Schöpfung, Sintflut, Exodus oder Zehn Gebote. Sorgfältig formulierte Anregungen zum Erzählen, Verwenden von Materialien und Eröffnen von Gesprächen wecken die Vorstellungskraft und laden nicht nur Kinder zum Erkunden ein. Das Buch enthält außerdem Kopiervorlagen fu¨r sog. „Elternbriefe“ zu den meisten Darbietungen.

Die vorliegende 5. Auflage wurde in einigen Details u¨berarbeitet, z.B. in der Darbietung zu den Zehn Geboten (lutherische und römisch-katholische Zählweise). Weiterhin regt ein neuer, praxisorientierter Text zur Frage der Gottesbilder bei Godly Play zur Vertiefung an (u¨ber QRC/URL erreichbar).



[Godly Play. Playful Exploration of the Bible and Faith]

Godly Play is a concept for spiritual formation and religious education. It invites children, young people, and adults to explore fundamental questions about their lives and faith as well as to find a language for these discussions. In a playful and creative way, Godly Play combines impulses from Montessori education with biblical stories and Christian traditions.

The concept was developed by Jerome Berryman (USA) in 1970 and has been used in parishes, kindergartens, schools, and other educational institutions in German-speaking countries since around 2003 and is constantly being developed further.

The practical volume 'Glaubensgeschichten' contains 13 presentations on the church year, the Bible as a book and central themes from the Old Testament such as Creation, the Flood, Exodus and the Ten Commandments. Carefully formulated suggestions for storytelling, using materials and opening up conversations awaken the imagination and invite not only children to explore. The book also contains copy templates for so-called 'Elternbriefe' for most of the presentations. This 5th edition has been revised in some details, e. g. in the presentation of the Ten Commandments (Lutheran and Roman Catholic counting). Furthermore, a new, practice-oriented text on the question of images of God in Godly Play encourages further study (accessible via QRC/URL).
